Dear flist,
Sorry for my absence in all things LtM*. I was sick as hell for two weeks and as soon as I got better and back to work, I got a call saying my nephew was being life flighted into our hospital at about 1:00 in the morning. He had a drowning accident and had been dead for 4-5 before they got him back. Long and horrible story made short. I've spent more time at the hospital than human should ever have to do.
But, after a few of days in the ICU, another two days in a normal room, he was released to go home. His short term memory is rather messed up, but it's getting better. The first day, he could remember things for about 30 seconds. Then we got up to 20 minutes. But if you left the room, he wouldn't remember you had every been there. Which in some ways was nice, because his face would like up every time you walked in the room, even if you'd been in there a dozen times. He had some challenges ahead, but we have him back, healthy and ready to live his life. It was a miracle that saved him and prayers that got him through. That I believe to be true.
And, feeling like a vulture, I may base a fic over all the things I learned about oxygen being cut off to the brain and all that fun stuff. I think Cal might get an owie.
But not until I've had sleep. Lots and lots of sleep that isn't on a hospital couch, or a living room couch. Ugh.
ktxluvubai!
